Hello, my name is Cam Findlay, I am a Samurai Tech Geek 
I am currently studying leadership at the University of Canterbury in Christchurch, New Zealand.
I am using this blog to publish my thoughts and ideas based around several journal questions that our lecturer is proposing at each lecture. I thought since I have a passion for technology and online communities that rather than scrawl my thoughts about each question on a piece of paper than I would post everything on a blog (much more eco friendly too!). All this contemplation and exploring of ideas is leading ultimately towards putting together a Personal Development Plan.
I will be commenting on ideas from each lecture mostly focused on personal leadership and my current journey to find my true calling in my work and life.
I am also quite a technology geek, I have worked in the web development and multimedia industry for over 10 years (I started writing websites at the tender age of 15). I’m currently the head of technology for an online music education company called RockStar Recipes Ltd. Our mission is to teach the world to play guitar and it has me doing what I do best. I am building websites, playing with technology and finding practical uses for it to improve they way we teach our courses and help drive our community of students so they can reach their dreams of being able to play an instrument and share beautiful music with their friends and family.
I will also be talking and sharing my experiences as I begin my training in the Japanese Art of Iaido which is the art of drawing the sword. It is one of the smaller least known (In western countries) martial arts from Japan. It helps promote a reflective mind and has a very spiritual side to it. I hope to learn more about Japanese culture, language and most importantly more about myself through my training. A trip to Japan may also be on the cards one day which would be very exciting.
Putting this altogether my blog hopefully reflects my thoughts, ideas and journey.
